All donations are acknowledged with a Thank you note, with larger donations being acknowledged with further tax receipts automatically. A canceled check is normally sufficient for tax purposes. If you wish your donation to be directed to a specific program, please let us know so we can comply with your wishes.

Other Donation Methods and Planned Giving

People for Animals, Inc. is a private not for profit organization dedicated to animal welfare. If you share our concern about the fate of homeless pets and the overpopulation crisis, then your planned gift or donation will be well placed with People for Animals. We rely on our supporters to continue our life-saving work. Our New Jersey Charitable Registration number is CHO244300-20. Please seek a lawyer to advise you in any legal and/or financial matters. The information below is offered to give you ideas on how to help People for Animals.

In Honor and Memorial Donations:

You can send in a donation with a note stating that it will be “In Honor” or “In Memory” of a person or pet. If you include the address of the honored person or the remaining family, we will send them a certificate informing them of your donation. You will receive a Thank You card with an acknowledgment of your donation and it will contain your receipt information. All the donor’s names will be printed in the newsletter unless otherwise requested.

Wills or Living Trust Bequests:

Through your will or living trust, you can ensure some or all of your assets will come to People for Animals.

Sample Bequest Language
You can share with your attorney the following sample language that can be included in your will or living trust and tailored to address your specific wishes:
“I give People for Animals Inc., Federal I.D. No. 22-2331492, 401 Hillside Avenue, Hillside, NJ 07205, (the sum of $____)
(all or ____% of the residue of my estate), to be used for general purposes.”

Gifts of Retirement Plans:

A gift of a retirement plan (IRA, 401(k), 403(b), Keogh or other qualified retirement plan) may be one of the easiest and most tax effective ways to help People for Animals.

Gifts Through Life Insurance:

By making a gift through life insurance, you may be able to make a larger gift than you thought possible, while retaining other assets for your needs or those of your family. There are three ways to do this:

  • Name People for Animals as the beneficiary of your policy
  • Donate your policy to People for Animals
  • Use your policy proceeds to fund a life income gift

Charitable Gift Annuities:

This is a simple plan that allows you to provide long term support to People for Animals and obtain significant ongoing income and tax benefits for yourself, a family member, partner, or friend.

Charitable Remainder Trust:

A charitable remainder trust is an irrevocable trust that holds property that you transfer into it. During your lifetime you will receive annual income, based on a percentage of the property held in trust, valued either at the date of the transfer or revalued each year. After your death, or the death(s) of the named beneficiary, the amount remaining in the trust will come to People for Animals.

Transfer on Death Accounts (TOD):

In almost all states it is possible to own bank or brokerage accounts in your name with the provision that on your death it will be transferred to People for Animals. These are called “transfer on death” or “pay on death accounts or Totten trusts.
