People For Animals Neuter Scooter

The Neuter Scooter is a transportation service offered by PFA that picks up cats and small dogs from various shelters and brings them to our Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic, located in Hillside, NJ. The animals stay overnight in their own comfortable, clean cages. To ensure the animals are in good health for surgery, they are examined when they arrive prior to surgery. In the evening, after surgery has been completed and the animals are fully recovered from anesthesia, the Neuter Scooter brings them back to the shelter.

About The Program

The Neuter Scooter program originated when we found that many people who desperately needed low cost spay/neuter services could not access our clinic due to distance and/or lack of transportation. The majority of PFA’s clients come from only three counties (Union, Middlesex and Essex). The rising price of gasoline is also a barrier to some in accessing our services.

Shelters may enter into a partnership with PFA to use the Neuter Scooter service to transport shelter animals to and from the clinic for surgery prior to adoption. The cost of the shuttle service is free. In return the shelter will reimburse PFA for the cost of the surgery. Shelters will also agree to allow their facility to serve as the pickup and drop-off point for the general public.
